FCWC Flower City Work Camp
One of the ministries of Flower City Outreach is Flower City Work Camp (FCWC). FCWC began in 1985 with a group of local youth leaders who had a desire to see their students serve in a meaningful inner-City ministry and a desire to impact the City of Rochester with the life-changing message of Christ’s love. Using a national model, they developed a Rochester-based ministry that reaches the City with God’s love in very practical ways.
Each year, over 700 students and 400 adults from more than 55 churches serve at resident-owned home work sites, in sidewalk clubs, and basketball/soccer camps to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to some of the neediest areas of our city.

FCWC Weekend Edition
One of the ministries of Flower City Outreach is FCWC Weekend Edition. The Weekend Edition in 2020 with a group of volunteers who had a desire to serve in a meaningful inner-City ministry and a desire to impact the City of Rochester with the life-changing message of Christ’s love. Using a national model, they developed a Rochester-based ministry that reaches the City with God’s love conveniently.
In 2020 even though the virus (15), fifteen worksites were completed. Worksites required handicap access to the home, fix many safety issues, and upgrade the house so the family can live in them without worry. The goal in 2021 is 50 homesites.
The Weekend Edition and our Church partners supplied all materials and labor with no change to the homeowner. It would not be possible without your donations and thank you in advance. Click here to DONATE.

CarePortal- FCO recently added its first ministry affiliate. CarePortal is a national Christ-centered platform that allows a network of churches, community members, and local child welfare stakeholders to collaborate for the benefit of children and families in their community. Through relationships accelerated by technology, CarePortal empowers local churches and agencies to partner and establish a culture of “Church Centered Child Welfare.” Churches help keep families together, support foster & adoptive children & families, as well as ease the transition of youth from foster care to independence.

Youth Mentoring- FCO is exploring ways to funnel mature Christian mentors from our network of churches into local youth mentoring organizations. There are opportunities to mentor kids in need of a good role model, learn life skills and reach with the gospel.
School-Church Partnerships- FCO is exploring a new initiative with a focus on churches intentionally partnering with local city schools to help meet needs that the schools cannot. For example, partner churches may provide: Teacher Assistants, Tutors, After School Reading Program, Teacher Appreciation Breakfasts, Backpacks with Supplies for Elementary & Middle School Students, and Help with High-Risk students through Values Teaching.
Rose City Work Camp
Rose City Work Camp- FCO is wanting to reproduce a Work Camp in Portland, Oregon which is known as the “Rose City.” This newly incorporated ministry is patterned from FCWC and led by our former Executive Director Ryan Smith. A volunteer board has already been formed with the goal of building this new ministry home by home with churches and foundations in the Portland area.
One of the most unique aspects of FCO’s approach is to invite the Church to bring new ideas forward for us to invest in and develop. God calls many of us to an area of service or gives us a vision of how to address an unmet need, but not everyone knows how to put those promptings into action. Flower City Outreach invites the Church to bring those ideas forward for consideration. The intent is then for Flower City Outreach to evaluate and select a number of “start-ups” to invest in and then to enable those who brought their idea forward to bring their ministry venture to life. Do you have an idea that you would like to see become a reality or do you just need a little help to get your ministry concept launched? Contact Flower City Outreach (firstname.lastname@example.org) and we can begin to work together on putting your calling into action!
